Three Reasons to Have a First Look

Traditionally, the first time a groom saw his bride on the wedding day was when she walked down the aisle. But who says we have to stick to tradition?! Many brides are now opting to have a “First Look” on their wedding day. For those of you who don’t know what a First Look is, it’s the first time you see each other on your wedding day, but in private and before the ceremony. I am all for First Looks!

First looks just may be my favorite part of a wedding day! It’s such a special moment between you two and I feel so honored to witness and document it. Here are 3 of the reasons I think a First Look makes your Wedding Day extra wonderful.

  • Get all your jitters out! This is it. The day you’ve been planning for months and dreaming about for years. It’s natural to be nervous and have lots of emotions running through your body. Having a First Look can calm you both down and bring you back to the reason you’re doing this. You get to see your person without a crowd of onlookers and I won’t tell if you kiss each other before you exchange rings!

  • Spend time together! Most people don’t tell you that you’ll barely get a chance to talk to your beloved on your wedding day. You’ll be surrounded by friends and family, all of whom want to congratulate you and celebrate with you. Time will fly by! Having a First Look lets you steal some time together with no one else around where you can actually talk about what’s going through your mind.

  • Improves the timeline! Not only is a First Look a great opportunity to share some special moments, but it also improves the flow of your Wedding Day and results in more photos of the happy couple together. Typically after the First Look, we’ll move into family and wedding party portraits before the ceremony. The goal is to get as much done before the ceremony so you can go enjoy your party and celebrate with your friends and family.
